Here
we have a brief introduction to many of the popular games
found at the casino. There are no playing tips on this page
however. Casino games are purely games of chance,
it doesn't matter what number you go for on the roulette
table they all have an equal chance of coming in. However,
this doesn't mean that games at the casino aren't worth
playing! The house only takes a small percentage of the
money played in the game and it is easily possible to go
on a good run and win a lot. So, here is:
Mister
Tips' Guide to Casino Games
Roulette
This
extremely well known game is played using a roulette wheel
of 37 numbers 0-36 (in the USA a double zero is also on
the wheel). A ball is spun in the wheel and the object of
the game is to predict where it will land. You can bet on
the number itself, whether it will be odd or even, or whether
it will be red or black. You can also place a single bet on
a group of numbers. There isn't much more to the game than
that, but it can be highly addictive and exciting!
Blackjack
Also
called twenty-one. The object of the game is to draw
cards which total as close to 21 as possible (aces count
for 1 or 11 at your discretion). If you go over 21 then
you "bust" and lose. The casino's dealer is also
trying to get to 21 with their cards. If you beat their
total without going bust, you win. This is one of the few
casino games that can actually be played with an element
of skill. However "card counting" as it
is known, is against the law, and practicing it can get
you barred from a casino.
Craps
This
is a dice game played a lot more in the States than over
here. Two dice are rolled and the basic object of the game
is to score a point by rolling a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 and
then rolling the same number again before rolling a 7 (craps).
Keno
This
game is played on a board of 80 numbers. You pick up to
ten numbers before twenty of the eighty numbers are drawn
(often by computer). How much you win depends on the how
many of your numbers are matched.
Casino
Poker
As
with blackjack, this game is played against the dealer.
You are dealt cards and have to make a hand to beat the
dealer's hand. How much you win depends on how good your
hand is.
Pai
Gow Poker
A
variation of casino poker where you have to make two hands,
one of five cards, one of two. Again you are trying to beat
the dealer. You have to beat both of the dealer's hands
to win. If you win only one your money is returned.
Fruit
Machines
Fruit
machines (or slot machines) are a very popular part
of casino entertainment. With large jackpots and high payout
rates they can provide hours of fun. Slots vary from the
more traditional machines to video poker and other
high tech games.
